Will replacing the grout fix my leaking shower?
In most cases, old and degraded grout and silicone is the cause of leaking and mouldy showers. Replacing the grout with epoxy grout will fix the leaks and stop the mould. We offer a free in-home inspection to ensure that there are no other issues that may require attention.
Why is epoxy grout better than cement based grout?
Unlike cement based grout, epoxy grout is 100% waterproof and chemical resistant. It contains a bacteriostatic agent to protect your home from mould and doesn’t shrink, crack or expand. Visually epoxy grout is stain resistant and won’t discolour over time leaving your tiled areas looking consistently great.
How long does the process take?
After an initial assessment most showers will take 4 – 6 hours to complete (this is dependent on the size of the area and tiles). You will be able to use the area after approximately 48 hours.
How can I tell if my shower is leaking due to grout issues?
The presence of mould inside the shower area is the most common evidence of leaking grout. Other indicators are loose floor or wall tiles, efflorescence and possibly rotten timbers, plaster and carpet in adjacent areas.
What steps are involved in the shower repair process?
There are 3 important steps we undertake when repairing a shower.
- The old silicone is removed, along with the old grout to a depth of approximately 3-5mm.
- The entire area is thoroughly cleaned
- New epoxy grout is installed, and all corners sealed with new silicone.

The entire process has a quick turnaround. Showers can be regrouted in one day. The epoxy grout requires 48 hours to set after regrouting.
